Friday Fictioneers #11

2 Jul

Oh how I have missed Friday Fictioneers!

This is my contribution for the week.  The prompt can be found here.

Punishment

Her gullibility was written on the planes of her face; an angelic gloss.  Her innocence glimmered in the half-light.

It was their signal to weave their tale.

They expected her to question them, to drill down into the detail.  She did not.  This made them boulder.  The tale got wilder.   She never sought concrete evidence.  Instead, she remained impassive, her expression set in stone.

They got bored with her, and of the story.

She did not feel the same.

She slipped a note beneath their doors:  “I found the King of Rock.”

Was it true?

Not knowing was punishment enough.

I didn’t get it the first time, read the comments, then read it again and got it. I’m a little slow today. Humorous and well written. 🙂 —Susan

I love your story! I read it twice too but it made sense each time. Clever and fun! Thanks for the chuckle! Nan 🙂
